Summit at 33rd Street

Posted by Communications

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor."
//Luke 4: 18-19

On Sunday, January 1st, Summit will launch a multi-site campus in the Horizon wing of the Orange County Jail. The congregation will be comprised of men who want to attend church. We are excited about forming a biblically-functioning community inside the 33rd Street Jail and sharing Jesus’ grace, hope, and love with the inmates.

This campus will feature:

• Live worship
• Video teaching
• One-on-one mentorship programs throughout the week

reGROUP will be an important component of this jail site because it will provide a safe place for these men to begin a healing process. The tools they learn in reGROUP will equip them for life as they get ready to enter back into their communities.

What can you do to help? Three things.

• Pray that God would bless this ministry.

• Pray for Campus Minister Rene Vazquez, Associate Campus Minister Bill Behr, the Summit leadership teams, and the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry Chaplains who have welcomed us to serve alongside of them.

• Pray for the community at the 33rd Street Jail — the men who will be attending and participating in this unique expression of the Summit family.
