For Everyone

Jesus likened his followers to the “light of the world,” with the purpose of shining God’s truth and love for all to see.

Now, despite 2000 years having come and gone and how divided we can be, the Church is still called to the same challenge laid out in those earliest teachings—that we’re to be a place for everyone, and that means anyone.

After all, once we’ve experienced the light of life switched on in our own hearts, why wouldn’t we want that for our friends, families, and neighbors as well?

And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.’” He also tells a story that shows how everyone in this new kingdom has great value and is worthy of love and care.

In a famous story, Jesus was preaching in a house, and four men brought a paralyzed friend on a mat, hoping Jesus would heal him. They couldn’t get past the crowd, but they didn’t quit. They took matters into their own hands, climbed up, and made a hole in the roof to lower him down. If we’re to be a church “For Everyone” then we need to be bold and remove all unnecessary barriers for the sake of those God has given us to love.
